The Trail of the Century by French Kicks
This is one of my favorite songs from the past decade. Something about the feeling I get around the 2:38 mark on. It makes me feel very “ok” with whatever is going to happen.
These pictures probably do a better job explaining:

BONUS // A worthy Zombies cover by the band here.
God Only Knows by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.

It’s a challenge to cover this song, which is regarded as one of the greatest songs of all time. That’s why Boogie Nights used it for the “coke years” montage. These guys did a great job keeping the lovable elements in place (e.g., harmonies, percussion, the little flute part on the last verse) while retaining their own vibe. That’s the point, ininit?
Labels and blogs are giving shit to NazcarNation because of their name. I wonder if Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. ran into similar problems. They should tour together.

Sadie by Healamonster & Tarsier

Stoked that these guys will be sharing the stage with The Sea of Cortez tonight at The Silverlake Lounge.

June Bloom Playlist - Download it
Jstreet and I got ambitious last week and decided that we’d make a playlist every week of the top songs we liked from the music we got that week. Here are my favorites. It was a good week.
- Download the folder here
- unzip it
- create a playlist in itunes
- drag unzipped folder into the playlist in itunes
(I was too lazy to change the metadata, so it will probably appear in a different order in your itunes)
