Pure - Bye Bye Blackbird
Genre: dream pop, chillwave
Dammit, hipsters! Why must you make such good music?
Actually, I’ve been finding a lot of new music today (mainly because of www.hypem.com) but also on random blogs around on the internet. Bye Bye Blackbird was one of them, and with a beautiful, hazy sound, how can you refuse to love this song? Mikey S, the man behind the project, has released a couple of EP-s which can be downloaded for free (!) here. His tumblr blog might also be of interest.
Didn’t they cover Float On?
Toro y Moi » Leave Everywhere
i am continuously impressed with Chazwick’s ever growing repetoire. What makes me even more stoked to see him next week is that his talent isn’t exclusively dependent on the buttons he can press. Let’s see if his versatility is real life. B’yah!
“Temporary Secretary” - Paul McCartney
the 80’s were a strange time for Paul but fortunately Neon Indian took notice. They’re doing a cover album of this song and what I imagine is the rest of the McCartney II album. I’m excited.
As I’m sure all of you hipster scum who follow my tumblr know(duh, what else is tumblr for) what chillwave is, I’d like to introduce you to my brainchild, “frostwave.”

Now this is what I’ve dubbed, proto-frostwave.
Now, Frostwave is essentially less chill, chillwave. Now a brief Wikipedia description of chillwave is this.
CHILLWAVE
dumb name. pretty awesome tunes. I really dig the daft punk + over-compression, even though Toro Y Moi kind of fucks it up on one song cos there are too many kicks which equals me having no idea what the melodic content behind the kick is. but it’s fine because it just proves to me that…
As a human and an American, I’m proud to have these guys + gal making music in 2010.

Like Gauntlet Hair or Weekends, Caddywhompus is a guitar/drum two piece. But instead of Colorado or Baltimore, they are from Houston/New Orleans.
The guitar work is pretty impressive. I wonder if he uses an octave pedal for some of the riffs. His voice reminds me of early Band of Horses and it helps give the song something to hold on to during the cacophony of cymbals and distortion.

I don’t think they will have any trouble competing for the SEO rank of their name.
And look how bad ass the cover art is:
Look alive, sir!
True glo-fi here. And like their name and album cover might imply, they really don’t give a shit.
The posted track (above) is the first proper song on the album, which is, at the very least, entertaining throughout.
Download some ish for free here.
This reminds me of that Night Control fellow.
